Tom Morello, guitarrista de Audioslave/Rage Against The Machine/Prophets Of Rage, ha compartido una imagen de Fidel Castro en su cuenta de Instagram con el siguiente texto:

¿Con qué moralidad pueden hablar los líderes estadounidenses de los derechos humanos en un país donde hay millonarios y mendigos; donde los negros se enfrentan a la discriminación y donde millones de chicanos, puertorriqueños y latinoamericanos son despreciados, explotados y humillados? Aunque no estoy de acuerdo con todo lo que hizo Fidel Castro, hay una gran razón por la que es demonizado en Estados Unidos y por la que sigue siendo un gran héroe en todo el Tercer Mundo. Es el desafiar al imperialismo yanqui durante 50 años, instituyendo los mejores sistemas sanitarios, de inmunización infantil y de alfabetización en el Hemisferio Occidental (superando Estados Unidos y Canadá), exportando médicos a países en necesidad en todo el mundo (la administración Bush rechazó su oferta de enviar equipos médicos a Nueva Orleans durante el huracán Katrina), y siendo como fue defensor de los pobres y explotados no es de extrañar que millones lamenten su muerte. Audioslave fue la primera banda de Rock estadounidense que tocó en Cuba, y fue una experiencia de nunca olvidaré, sobre todo el viaje que hicimos a un antiguo club de ricos que había sido convertido en una universidad gratuita para músicos.

"With what morality can the US leaders talk of human rights in a country where there are millionaires and beggars, where blacks face discrimination and great masses of Chicanos, Puerto Ricans and Latin Americans are deprecated, exploited and humiliated?"-Fidel. While I don't agree with all that Fidel Castro did there is ample reason why he is vilified in the US and yet remains a huge hero throughout the Third World. By defying Yankee imperialism for 50 years, instituting the best healthcare, child immunization and literacy systems in the Western Hemisphere (surpassing the US and Canada), exporting doctors to countries in need all over the globe (the Bush administration turned down his offer to send medical teams to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina), and being an unrepentant advocate of the poor and exploited it is no surprise that millions will mourn his passing. Audioslave was the first US rock band to ever play in Cuba and that experience will be one I will always treasure, especially the trip we took to a former country club of the wealthy that had been turned into a free college for gifted musicians. #vivalarevolucion #RIPFidel
